Governance structure

Avenue Primary Academy has a 'Local Governing Board', which is effectively a committee of the Trust (Cirrus Primary Academy Trust). The accountability of the academy rests with the Trust, and many responsibilities are delegated to the Local Governing Board.

To find out about the structure of the Trust, please seeĀ this page on the Trust's website.

Avenue's Board consists of:

  • 2 parent governors
  • 1 HeadĀ Teacher
  • 1 Staff Governor
  • 1 Staff co-opted governor (Bursar)
  • 4 other co-opted governors

Total number of governors: 9

Parent governors, the staff governor and the 4 other co-opted governors serve a four year term. Parent governors are elected by the parent body and when a vacancy arises, this is communicated to parents and an election held. Similarly, the staff governor is elected by the staff. Co-opted governors are co-opted by the Trust based on the skills needs within the Local Governing Board.

Trustees (including the Executive Head) are able to attend Local Governing Board meetings.
